Pradhan Counters Patnaik

Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan replied BJD president and Chief Minister in the same coin.

Hitting back at the Chief Minister’s “empty vessel” remark against BJP, Mr.Prdhan called BJD as “broken vessel”.

Naveen while addressing the party men at a function on 2 October had described BJP as an "empty vessel" that makes noise.

"In its poll manifesto, the BJP had promised to accord Special Category status to Odisha, but nothing has been done so far. As we know, empty vessels make the most noise," Naveen had said.

The Union Minister told reporters that "Naveen Patnaik should realize that his BJD resembles a broken vessel."

Mr.Pradhan alleged large scale irregularities in Odisha's own food security scheme as its beneficiaries include ruling BJD leaders and workers, while common people have been ignored.

Reminding Mr.Patnaik his 3Ts formula (Transparency, team work and technology), Mr.Pradhan asked the chief minister to adopt transparency in implementation of the state's own food security scheme.

Alleging that the BJD had been doing politics over the cheap rice scheme, Mr.Pradhan said more than three crore people of Odisha are availing food grain under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).

On the other hand, Naveen’s own food security scheme includes only 18 lakh people.

Initially they (State Government) said that 34 lakh people will be included in the state’s own food security scheme. Later they changed the figure to 25 lakh and finally now saying that 18 lakh people will be benefited from the state’s own scheme.

If only 18 lakh people come under the state’s own food security scheme, Mr.Pradhan said the the Centre funded NFSA beneficiaries number is more than three crore.

“Hanu Mala Bele Sata Ka he (the truth comes at the end)”, Pradhan said adding that the central funded NFSA has more beneficiaries than the state’s own scheme.

Therefore, Mr.Pradhan said the Chief Minister should now say that the central scheme provide cheap rice to more people than Naveen’s “Own Scheme.”
