Plea For VAT Slash

Union Minister Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan has appealed Odisha Chief Minister to match the Union Government efforts to reduce fuel prices by cutting Value Added Tax (VAT) on the fuel.

Addressing the Press Meet here, Mr.Pradhan said that Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today announced duty cut of Rs 1.50 and another Re 1 drop by oil marketing companies.
He said due to USA and Iran tussle oil price is rising and it is creating havoc on economy of the country.
So looking at the grim scenario, Centre has slashed Rs.2.50 Per Liter and he appealed to the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to reduce Rs.2.50 on VAT so that so that the total benefit to citizens is at least Rs. 5.
Mr.Pradhan said in the meantime State Governments of Gujarat , Chhatishgarh, Tripura and Maharashtra have immediately responded with fuel price cut.
The Rs 2.50 benefit for citizens is within the control of the government and oil marketing companies, he said.
Minister Mr.Pradhan said that the State Government, which is crying foul over oil price hike is needed to respond in a positive manner.
