Hockey Infra Fast Tracked

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi was happy to see the progress of infrastructure building in Kalinga Stadium, which is going on as Fast Track Mode.

Mr.Padhi visited the premises of Kalinga Stadium on 1 October to review the progress of the works and infrastructure for the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018.

The International Event will kick start from 28 of November to 16 December 2018.

Secretary Sports & Youth Affairs, Vishal Dev, Secretary Works, Nalini Kanta Pradhan, Vice Chairman BDA Krishan Kumar, CMD IDCO Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director Sports & Youth Affairs R Vineel Krishna accompanied Chief Secretary, Mr.Padhi.

The stadium for the mega event is witnessing its last phase of renovation and construction works and is expected to be soon completely ready.

The Hockey turfs and the Stadium lighting is already completed and certified.

The facilities at the stadium are being renovated in view of the vast number of the expected visitors thronging the venue for the city’s biggest ever sporting event.

The sitting capacity of this world class stadium is being doubled from 7000 to almost 15000 now.

Along with the expansion of existing gallery infrastructure, two new stands and pavilions have also been constructed in the stadium.
For the convenience of the mobility of the spectators, numerous entry gates have been built. Internal and external roads leading to the said entry gates have also been widened to facilitate an easy commute.
Chief Secretary Mr.Padhi directed all the senior officials present that the works completion and cleaning up the debris and other construction material from the stadium should be the top most priority.
