Martyr Memorial Pillar

Soil collected from various birth places of martyrs was handed over to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here, who laid the foundation stone for a Martyrs’ Memorial Pillar.

The Memorial Pillar is being erected in the memory of those who dedicatedly sacrificed their life for the sake of the Nation.
The Pillar will come up at Swadhinata Sangrami Sadan here.
On the occasion of historic Quit India Movement, a well attended program was organized to remember and celebrate the Movement.
Chief Minister Mr. Patnaik laid the foundation stone for the Martyr Memorial Pillar here with the soils collected from various Saheed Smruti Pithas across the state.
Soils from as many as 38 Smruti Pithas across the state have been used at the Martyr Pillar, said Upendra Nath Padhi, Secretary Martyrs’ Memorial Trust.
Chief Minister Mr.Patnaik paid rich tributes to the martyrs who bravely fought to free the country from British Rule.
Mr.Patnaik said the Martyr Memorial Pillar will inspire the young generation for unity, integrity and development of the country.
Swadhinata Sangrami Samiti President Padmashree Bhabani Charan Patnaik chaired the meeting.
Minister Forest & Environment, Bijayshree Routray,Minister Works, Prafulla Kumar Mallik, School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra, Tribal Development Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi, and others were present.
The Speakers spoke at length on hard earned Freedom and highlighted the sacrifices made by the Freedom Fighters in the State.
All India Freedom Fighters Youth Front President and BJD MP, Bhartruhari Mahtab gave out details on Freedom Struggle.
General Secretary of Youth Front of Freedom Fighters’, Birupakshya Tripathy presented the Vote of Thanks.
