Deficit Rainfall Hits Blocks

 At least 49 Blocks have received rainfall between minus 19 to 39 Percent, which is deficit and that of 16 Blocks have remained severe deficit with rains receiving from minus 39 to 59 Percent.

Bishnupada Sethi, Special Relief Commissioner reviewed rainfall pattern today and it came to fore that  at least six districts of Nawarangpur, Deogarh, Sundergarh, Angul, Balangir and Nuapada districts has remained deficit by -19.9%, -21.2%, -21.2%, -21.6%, -26.3% & -31.8% respectively.

Average rainfall of the state recorded on 3 August 2018 for the last 24 hours is 6.2 Millimeter (MM).
8 districts have received average rainfall of above 10 MM. The districts are Ganjam- 21.6 MM, Nayagarh- 17.0 MM, Gajapati- 14.1MM, Dhenkanal- 12.9 MM, Angul- 11.8 MM, Nawarangpur- 11.6 MM, Malkangiri- 11.0 and Kalahandi- 10.1 MM.
Average rainfall in 17 districts remained below 10 MM whereas 5 more districts Bhadrak, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Kendrapara and Nuapada have not received any rainfall during past 24 hours.
Two Blocks have recorded rainfall of more than 50 MM. The highest rainfall of 57.0 MM has been received in Rangeilunda Block of Ganjam district and 53.0 MM in Dharmagarh Block of Kalahandi district.
With this, the cumulative average rainfall of the State from 1st June till 3rd August of 2018 comes to a surplus of 4.6 Percent over the long term average rainfall.
5 districts have received surplus rainfall of more than 19 Percent whereas 19 more districts have received normal rainfall during the period from 1June to 3 August cumulatively.
Taking into account the Block-wise rainfall, 93 Blocks have received surplus rainfall of more than 19Percent during the period from 1June till 3 August, whereas 156 Blocks have received normal rainfall.
During next 48 hours there will be Rain and Thunder Shower likely to occur at a few places over Odisha.
However there is no warning over Heavy Rainfall during next 48 hours, said official sources.
