Solar Power@3.04

State Power PSU, GRIDCO has been successful in getting the total 200 MW Solar Power Capacity at an average of Rs.3.04 Per Unit which is the lowest Solar Tariff for Odisha.

The First auction held after India imposed Safeguard Duty on Solar Panels and Modules, Odisha has been successful in winning lowest Solar Tariff, thanks to initiative of the GRIDCO Authorities futuristic thinking.
Safeguard Duty of 25 Percent on Solar Panel and Modules purchased from China and Malaysia came to effect from Monday and the Bids opened on Tuesday. Despite the imposition of Safeguard Duty, bids remained competitive.
Hemant Sharma, Secretary Energy and CMD GRIDCO decided to float a Domestic Tender for purchase of Solar Power to be produced in the State in future.
Accordingly, GRIDCO floated a domestic tender on 29 March 2018 for inviting bids for setting up of Solar Photo Voltaic (PV) projects for a total capacity of 200 MW towards fulfilling the specified Renewable Purchase Obligation Target.

This move was guided by the Ministry of Power, Government of India Resolution dated 3 August 2017 on the tariff based competitive bidding process for procurement of Solar Power.
This 200 MW solar tender of GRIDCO has made the provision for the pass through of the Safeguard duty / anti-dumping duty, if any to be levied by Govt. of India over and above the discovered tariff as it was a much deliberated issue since some days.
This provision and other terms and conditions of the RfS including the additional 100 MW capacity under Green Shoe option at lowest price gave the comfort to the bidders to quote the reasonable & acceptable tariff for the State.
GRIDCO is pleased to inform that after the reverse auction process, GRIDCO has successfully discovered the tariff for 200 MW Solar capacity.
The lowest discovered tariff is Rs. 2.79  per Unit by Aditya Birla Renewables Ltd., Mumbai for 75 MW and the discovered tariff for the rest capacity is Rs. 3.19  per Unit by Sukhbir Agro Energy Limited, Punjab (25 MW), Gupta Power Infrastructure Ltd., Bhubaneswar (20 MW), Eden Renewable Varenne Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi (50 MW) and Acme Solar Holdings Limited, Gurgaoon (30 MW), said official sources.
Mr.Sharma, CMD Green Energy Development Corporation Limited (GEDCOL) has asked the authorities to Plan for harnessing Solar Power in a big way.
