Shah Hits BJD Hard

BJP National President Amit Shah has hit the Governing BJD where it hurts.

In his 8th visit to state after becoming President of the BJP, Shah today irritated the Biju Janata Dal headed by Naveen Patnaik, by raising an issue relating to missing keys of Lord Jagannth’s Ratna Bhandar.

“If a Government cannot safeguard the keys of Lord Jagannth’s Ratna Bhandar which is linked to faith of lakhs of people, how can it protect interest of the state, Mr.Shah said while addressing a meeting with Shakti Kendra In-charges and Co-In-charges in Bhubaneswar.
Mr.Shah’s raising the sensitive issue has not gone down well within the BJD leadership which desperately wanted the people to forget the matter.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has already ordered a Judicial Probe into the incident in a bid to close the chapter.

While BJD wanted the people to forget, Mr.Shah has touched raw nerve. The BJP President has asked his party workers to spread the news among the villagers and let people know that this BJD Government has failed to keep Lord Jagannath’s Ratna Bhandar keys.

Though Mr.Shah had earlier spoken on different issues, the Jagannath chapter has made him a hero among the saffron leaders. The party workers are now prepared to take the matter to the grass root level.

That the BJD’s discomfort over the issue is evident when party Spokesman and Rajya Sabha MP P K Deb said: “The BJP will be punished by Lord Jagganth. Earlier, no political party in Odisha had made politics over Lord Jagannth’s issue.”
Mr.Shah, who was on a one-day visit to the State to take stock of the party’s poll preparedness, tweeted, “Addressed a meeting with Shakti Kendra in-charges and co-in-charges in Bhubaneswar (Odisha). With such energy and enthusiasm among @BJP4Odisha karyakartas, BJP is all set to sweep Odisha in 2019 under the leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi.”
Over 2,400 panchayat-level Shakti Kendra Committee Heads and their Deputies had attended Mr.Shah’s meeting here.

Earlier, Mr.Shah had given a call to party workers to work towards winning at least 120 of the 147 seats in the Assembly election.
Mr.Shah attended six back-to-back closed-door meetings with senior party functionaries and grassroots workers of the Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri Lok Sabha constituencies.

They included representatives from 21 Assembly constituencies under the three Lok Sabha segments.

Earlier Mr.Shah was given a rousing welcome at the Biju Patnaik International Airport by BJP leaders including State President Basant Panda, Union Ministers Dharmendra Paradhan and Jual Oram.
