Police Tracking Criminals

A day after being injured in encounter by Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch, dreaded criminal and gangster Tito alias Syed Usman Ali, the police is now investigating his crime network, DGP RP Sharma said here today.

“We are now investigating about his links, entire crime network and his involvement in various crimes. Legal action will be taken after a detailed investigation is over,” said Dr.Sharma.

Dr.Sharma also confirmed arrest of several of Tito’s associates in crime.

Notably, Tito is undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after he sustained bullet injuries on his left leg in the encounter near Chandikhole yesterday.

Sources said Tito was trying to evade police for the past few days as he had not been granted bail in connection with several cases pending against him.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by DIG, Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch Himanshu Lal conducted raid and nabbed him after an encounter near Chandikhole of Jajpur district.

Crime Branch ADG Santosh Kumar Upadhaya informed that six associates of Tito were also arrested later in the day and two pistols and weapons were seized from their possession.

More than 100 cases including murder, tender fixing, and other crimes are pending against Tito’s in different police stations of the State. He was also allegedly involved in the attack on terror suspect Abdur Rehman’s brother at Jagatpur in Cuttack.
