Rajnath Lauds Maoist Curb

Union Minister Home Affairs, Rajnath Singh today lauded the efforts of the State Government to curb Maoist Menace.

 
Mr.Singh spoke to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and discussed with him the security situation in the state in the wake of the elimination of seven Maoists in separate encounters, an official said.
 
During the telephonic conversation, the Mr.Singh asked for details and tock of the situation in the wake of multiple encounters between security forces and Left Wing Extremists (LWE) in two districts of the state.
 
Chief Minister Mr.Patnaik briefed the Union Minister on the steps taken by the State Government to deal with the Maoists, an official said.
 
Mr.Singh also spoke to the DGP, Rajendra Prasad Sharma, and appreciated the operations against Maoists.
 
 An Ultra was gunned down today in a fresh encounter with security forces in the Sudukumpa reserve forest in Kandhamal district, taking the number of Maoists killed in separate operations in the state since 13 May to seven.
 
Four Maoists, including two women, were killed in Kandhamal's Golanki village last evening and two naxals were shot dead at Dudkamal village of Balangir district early yesterday, State Police said.
 
 A fresh gun battle broke out today when a joint team of Special Operation Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) was carrying out a combing operation in the Sudukumpa forest in Kandhamal.
 
Meanwhile, Dr.Sharma said that Odisha Police will intensify operations against Naxalites.
 
Happy over the success of the Maoist Operations, who eliminated at least seven Maoists in Bolangir and Kandhamal districts in the past two days, DGP said the Police would keep the momentum and try to flush out the Red Rebels creating trouble in interiors of the State.
