Krishna Leaves Hinduism

Odisha's Congress MLA from Koraput Krishna Chandra Sagaria has announced to change his religion from Hinduism to Budhism.

The Lawmaker will convert at the two-day Dharma Kranti Samaroh starting 
on 12 May at Burja in Laxmipur of the district, sources said.
“I will convert to Buddhism along with my family members and some other people from my village,” Mr.Sagaria said.
Earlier, in an affidavit filed before the Executive Magistrate Koraput, Mr.Sagaria had expressed his intention to covert to Buddhism along with his family members.
“I intend to convert my religion from Hinduism to Buddhism as per my own will and without any pressure, coercion or inducement from any corner,” Mr.Sagaria mentioned in his affidavit.
The Legislator had also stated that he will abide by all the provisions prescribed in the Odisha Freedom of Religion Act, 1967 and 1989.
“I shall follow all the procedure for conversion as required by the Rules of the Odisha Freedom of Religion Rules 1989,” he had mentioned in the affidavit.
Buddhism preaches wisdom, friendship and equality, Mr.Sagaria said adding that Babasaheb Ambedkar had said that if you want to establish equality in society and acquire erudition, then you should adopt Buddhism.
“Inspired by his teachings, I along with my family members will embrace Buddhism in the next two days,” Mr.Sagaria said.
