Investors Visit Hotel Sites

More than 20 representatives from interested bidders and investors took part in a site visit for proposed development of 10 hotel sites across the Capital City.

 
Hotel projects will be developed across prime locations in the city. i.e. Gopabandhu Nagar, Chandrasekharpur , Patia, Jaydev Vihar, Bomikhal, Bhimpur, Bharatpur, Ghatikia and near Info Valley.
 
Krishan Kumar, Vice Chairman Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has taken initiative along with the Department of Tourism for such an initiative.
 
Officials of the Department of General Administration (DoGA)  and Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Odisha Limited (IDCO) were also present during the site visit.
 
The entire team on the site visit tour moved inside a bus provided by the Tourism Department. The participants inquired details about the land and their approach roads, surrounding area profile, power connectivity along with other critical factors needed for hospitality industry.The site visit shall be facilitated for any further demand in future.
 
BDA invited request for proposals (RFPs) from interested agencies for development of 10 hotel sites across the State Capital through a transparent e-auction process on February 17.
 
Of the 10 plots, 7 belong to General Administration Department while the three others to IDCO.
 
As per the bid documents, the 10 proposed hotels would be able to add at least 700 rooms for the tourists in various categories as the hotels would be of budget and star categories. Out of the 10, four would be under budget category and six would be of star categories.
 
The last date of submission of bids is March 27 and the e-auction will be held on April 17. The ``preferred bidder’’ shall have to pay the quoted amount within a period in three instalments to BDA.
 
To construct the hotel (budget/star) building it would incorporate a special purpose vehicle (SPV) which shall develop the project. The project has to be completed within a period of three years from the date of allotment.
 
The initiative would boost hospitality industry in Odisha and investment opportunity for tourism related industries and also shall help in direct and indirect employment generation avenues in and around the Capital City, which is also known as the City of Temples.
 
Bhubaneswar has good rail, air and road connectivity and emerged first in the National Smart City Challenge of Government of India to be developed as a Smart City.
 
The city has also been ranked as the 3rd best city among 17 cities in the country in terms of ease of doing business, according to a survey report by the World Bank.
