Western Odisha Misses Berth

Barely hours after induction into Governing BJD Media Czar Soumya Ranjan Patnaik and Education Entrepreneur Achyut Samanta were given ticket for Rajya Sabha election scheduled for 23 March.

Actor turned politician Prashant Nanda too has been rewarded and  given a ticket apparently for his hard work in Gaisilet Block of Bijepur Assembly constituency to ensure success of party candidate Rita Sahu during the recent by-election.
Notably, three seats from State are falling vacant next month as Dillip Tirkey, Ananga Uday Singh Deo and AV Swamy are completing their tenures.
The Chief Minister and BJD Supremo had announced recently that the party will nominate three persons with political background to the upper house.
However, Western Odisha, which was represented by all the above three leaders, missed a chance to get a berth in Upper House this time.
While Bijepur stood by BJD like Rock of Gibraltar, BJD Supremo preferred to ignore the leaders of Western Odisha, who worked relentlessly for the party in Bijepur.
At least dozen leaders from Western Odisha were eyeing for a berth including Dilip Tirkey, Bhupinder Singh, Rabi Narayan Pani, Padmini Sekhar Deo, Bimbadhar Kunar and others.
While Bimbadhar Kunar, who left BJP to join BJD worked hard during Bijepur By Poll and was not considered for the Upper House.
Similarly Narayan Sahu, who was Bargarh District President of BJP, joined BJD and worked seriously for the party.
Mr.Sahu made determined efforts for BJD and after the success in Bijepur By Poll, he was eyeing for the Upper House.
However his case was also not considered, who was instrumental in bringing huge support of the grass root cadre of BJP in support of BJD.
