CESU Consumers 22 L


The consumer strength of CESU has risen to 22 lakh from 6.5 lakh in 1999 registering a growth of 0.9 lakh per year. 


This was revealed at the annual function of CESU Engineers Service Association (CESA), held on January 7 in presence of Hemant Sharma, Secretary, Department of Energy and CMD Gridco and OPTCL Chairman, CESU as Chief Guest.

Md Sadiq Alam, Chief Executive Officer, CESU revealed the rising level of consumers and the program of CESU to provide them the services.
 
P Ratnakar Rao, Secretary General All India Power Engineers Federation, Prasant Chaturvedi, Secretary General Eastern India Power Engineers Federation and Biswaranjan Mishra, Chairman All Odisha Power Engineers Federation graced the occasion.
 
Prasanta Kumar Pattanayak, President, CESA  and Chairman EIPEF raised various issues pertaining to Odisha Power Sector such as failure of privatization since last 18 years of take over resulting increasing consumers and employees discontentment, almost unchanged energy loss components, etc.

The major points of the Meeting included integration of all state Discoms into one for the greater interest of the State and restructuring of the organization keeping the growth of consumer’s electrical infrastructures to more than three times of the pre-privatization period. 
 
It was revealed in the meeting that the  man in position was 12,700 and now it is about 5,000 —418 reduced per year. The ratio of employees to consumers was 1:51 whereas at present it is 1:440.

The number of primary sub-stations were about 148 but at present more than 236— growth of 5 S/Ss per year, number of DTs, were 12,400, at present it is about more than 62,000 — growth of near about 2800 per year. The ratio of man power to DT was 1:1 whereas at present 1:12 and length of lines (LT & HT) was about 32,000 kilometres at present it is about 85,000 kilometres— growth of 3000 Kms per year. The ratio of man power to line was 1:3Kms and at present 1:17Kms.
 
In his address, Mr.Sharma assured to extend his full hearted support to implement the restructuring of the organization very soon along with other issues of Engineers to be redressed.

Md Sadique Alam, CEO, CESU wholeheartedly praised the restless service of the Engineers to the consumers and declared to extend all the possible supports to fulfill all the demands of the engineers.

P Ratnakar Rao, Secretary General, AIPEF,  Prasant Chaturvedi Secretary General EIPEF and BR Mishra, Chairman AOPEF condemned the failure of privatization in the State Power Sector and requested the State government to integrate the State Discoms into one unit as per other states of the country for the greater interest of the State.

The burning issues like time scale promotion, filling up vacant posts, Free Health Insurance to engineers, Implementation of 7th Pay Commission, In time retirement benefits etc Time Scale Promotion, Free Health Insurance, additional increments towards essential service with the basic Pay, regularization of contractual engineers etc of the State power sector engineers shall be taken up before the appropriate forum for quick redressal. 

In the meeting the President, CESA raised the issue on the damaged condition of different office buildings and requested for quick renovation and construction of all office buildings for smooth functioning.
