BJP Meets ACS Home

Saffron Leaders led by State President Basant Panda called on ACS Home Asit Tripathy and urged him to take necessary steps to nab the culprits.

“When eyewitnesses are clearly saying that the miscreants who fired at the house kept shouting that they were the henchmen of the Minister Labor & ESI, Susant Singh, what else is left to enquire”, said Mr.Panda.

A day after unknown persons fired at the house of a BJP youth leader's in Bijepur area of Bargarh district, BJP leaders targeted Minister Sushant Singh alleging him of masterminding the episode in a bid to terrorize Bijepur BJP workers ahead of the by-election there.
However, Governing BJD leaders dubbed it a well planned strategy by the saffron party to malign the party.
Reacting to BJP’s accusations, Minister Mr.Singh said by making such wild allegations the Saffron leaders are exposing their desperation and frustration as the party stands to lose miserably in the ensuing by-election. There is absolutely no truth in these allegations, he asserted.
Police sources said unknown persons with their faces covered came in a SUV and fired gunshots at the residence of Manoranjan Meher, circle president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of BJP and fled away on 7 January night, the Police said.
There was no report of any casualty in the firing, they said adding that a case has been lodged and police was investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, the BJP today accused the Biju Janata Dal of attempting to frighten its workers, but the ruling party rubbished the allegation and accused the BJP of politicising the incident.

"As the popularity of BJD is decreasing by the day, it has been trying to terrorise the BJP workers. But the people of Odisha are with the workers of BJP for which there is no need to fear," Arun Singh, BJP General Secretary in-charge of Odisha told Media here.

BJP workers led by Padmapur MLA Pradip Purohit staged a dharna before Bijepur Police Station today demanding action against culprit.

BJD Spokesperson, Pratap kesari Deb said: "The incident is being politicized by BJP. Law is equal for all and it will take its own course. As there is a by-poll in the future, the BJP is intentionally blaming the BJD for its political benefits."
