Tata Steel Hosts Half Marathon


Tata Steel, in association with the Odisha Government in the Department of Sports and Youth Services will conduct the Tata Steel Bhubaneswar Half Marathon 2018 on 14 January. 

 
Registration for the annual professional half marathon - organised for the third consecutive year to commemorate National Youth Sports Day, will now go on till January 9. 
 
There has been an overwhelming response till date with nearly 3,000 participants registering for the run.
 
Online registrations can be done at www.tatasteelbbsr-run.com Physical registration counters are open during morning and evening hours at Kalinga Stadium, IG Park, Buddha Park, Forest Park, KIIT (Campus-6 gate). 
 
Covering a distance of 21.1 km, the half marathon will start from Kalinga stadium, towards Khandagiri Square and return to culminate at the stadium.
 
 In addition, a 10 km run for men and women 16 years and above and a 5 km run for boys and girls under the age of 16 years and born after January 14, 2002 is being organised.
 
The registration fees for half marathon is Rs 300, for 10 km run is Rs 200 and for 5 km run is Rs 100.
 
Participants will get a T-shirt, an information leaflet, a unique BIB number and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip, which can be collected from Kalinga Stadium from January 11 to 13.
 
The marathon is being conducted as per international standards equipped with state-of-the-art technology consisting of Timing Mats and its control units, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips, split timing mats on route, tracking camera, wi-fi network on route as per international standard will be used to follow world-class standards at the marathon.
 
Awards worth Rs 8,64,000 will be given to winners in three different categories, with the highest prize money of Rs 1,00,000 going to each of the winners in the (men and women races) of the 21.1kms run.
