Padhi Bats For AIIMS Bls

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi has urged the Union Government in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to start work of the Satellite Centre of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Balasore.

Mr.Padhi raised the issue at the Governing Board (GB) Meeting of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar held at the Conference Hall of Nirman Bhawan at New Delhi, on 5 December, where Union Minister Health & Family Welfare J P Nadda chaired the GB.

Chief Secretary Mr.Padhi urged the Union Government to take possession of the land reserved for AIIMS near Balasore and start construction for the Satellite Centre.
Director of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, Geetanjali Batmanbane was present in the meeting.

Professor Batmanbane said that the State Government is providing all out support for the AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.

Union Government decided to open Satellite Centre at Balasore in 2013 and till date it has not taken up construction though land is ready and AIIMS authorities have been time and again urged to take possession of land.

A 350 Beded Hospital was to be set up in two phases to cater the people of North Odisha and District Administration of Balasore is eager to provide all out support for the Project, said official.

While, AIIMS Bhubaneswar has opened Outpatient department (OPD) services at Balasore, authorities are showing lukewarm response to start work on Satellite Campus in the Northern District of the State.

So far commitment of Odisha Government is concerned, it has extended all out support for AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.

While the State Government has already provided over 92 Acres of land to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar and continued to provide other facilities, it was pointed out that Union Government is yet to open Super Specialty facilities at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.

So the MoHFW was urged to start Super Specialty facilities for the patients as soon as possible as there is infrastructure and other requirements are available, said he.

For providing training to the MBBS and Nursing Staff, Nayapalli Dispensary has been handed over to AIIMS,. Bhubaneswar.

For Rural Health Training Centre to run by AIIMS, Bhubaneswar infrastructure development at Mendhasal Community Health Centre has been handed over to AIIMS, said officials.

Chief Secretary Mr.Padhi has said that the State Government is taking all out steps to vacate unauthorized encroachments in AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.

District Collector Khurda is taking up action for removing the unauthorized persons from AIIMS.

In the meantime, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar has approached the State Government to provide 50 acres of land and as the land comes under Forest Department, AIIMS has been requested to submit Forest Diversion proposal for eventual transfer to the AIIMS.

For helping out the attendants of the patients a dormitory is being set up at AIIMS with funding support from NALCO.

Aluminium Major will fund Rs.26 Crore for the dormitory out of its CSR Fund.

NALCO and AIIMS will sign an agreement for the project soon and this endeavor will come as a big help for the patient attendants of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar , said an official.
