 Union Ministers-Jual Oram and Dharmendra Pradhan today alleged inefficiency of the State Government is curbing sale of spurious pesticides in State.

 
While Mr.Oram questioned the sincerity of the State Government in tackling the pest attack, Mr. Pradhan met Union Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh in New Delhi to discuss the situation.
 
Mr.Oram questioned the availability of spurious pesticides in State and demanded a probe to find out the persons responsible for it.He suspected Percentage Commission (PC) activities behind the supply of the pesticides.
 
 
After the meeting Mr.Pradhan told Media that Union Minister of State for Agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will visit the State, especially worst hit Bargarh district, on 12 November to assess the situation.

He said the State Government has not been able to spend Rs 53 crore provided to it for agriculture sector.“Only Rs 1.98 crore has been spent by  the State government from this fund, “ he said adding, “If State Government had taken timely steps the situation could have been averted.”   
 
 
Even as the Union Ministers slammed the State government,  State Panchayati Raj Minister and former Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy asserted that action should be taken against those found selling spurious pesticides.
 
Mr.Maharathy told Media Persons that those persons who are selling spurious pesticides and the concerned government officials should be arrested immediately if the allegations are proved.
 
Meanwhile, a 6-member BJP team led by MP Om Prakash Yadav will visit Odisha on Friday to take stock of the crop loss situation in the State.
 
BJP Kisan Morcha’s State Secretary Surath Biswal informed that the team will prepare a report on the crop loss due to drought and pest attack by visiting seven districts of Odisha within four days.
 
The team will prepare a report after a tour of Bargarh, Subarnapur, Nuapada, Boudh, Balangir, Ganjam and Nayagarh districts.
 
“The team will inquire into the circumstances that forced the farmers to buy spurious pesticide. A list of State BJP leaders have been prepared to assist the Central team. They will also submit their report to BJP National President, Amit Shah,” said Mr.Biswal.
