Trouble For Bishnu

Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Dalit Cell President Bishnu Das is facing double trouble.


While blaming Jawans for the rape and later detracting from it, he had a faced lot of criticism.
Now for disclosing the name and address of Kunduli gang rape survivor, a Police Complaint was today lodged by the State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against the BJD Leader.
A Team led by BJP State Secretary Dilip Mallick visited the Mahila Police Station in the State Capital and filed the complaint demanding that Das should be punished for making the survivor’s identity public.

“Disclosing the gang rape survivor’s details is a criminal offence and we want action against Das as per the law,” Mr.Mallick stated.
On the other hand, a delegation of Congress led by Koraput legislator Krishna Chandra Sagaria met Governor SC Jamir over the Kunduli gang rape incident and submitted a memorandum.
The Congress leaders demanded the State Government should provide compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the gang rape survivor and shift her to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for better treatment. Apart from this, they sought a fair probe into the incident.
OPCC Chief Prasad Harichandan, who was also a part of the delegation, alleged, “The State Government is shielding the accused. Besides, the district police have been harassing the gang rape survivor from Day One. We want immediate arrest of the accused.”
Earlier in the day, a three-member team reached Duguriput in Koarput to counsel the gang rape survivor at a short stay home. The team comprising Utkal University Psychology department Professor Namita Mohanty, Unicef’s State Advisor Madhumita Das and Koraput District Child Protection Officer Rajashree Das examined the gang rape survivor’s psychological condition.
Meanwhile, Koraput District Police are yet to nab the accused in the gang rape case even after 25 days have passed since the incident.
The minor’s woes have aggravated as her family members are hesitating to keep her with them following which the District Administration has shifted the survivor to a short stay home.
