Skill Pact With ITEES

Odisha Government today signed a pact with a leading technical institute of Singapore, ITE Education Services (ITEES), to provide skill trainings to State ITI teachers for sustained employability of trained youths in a bid to take forward its skill development program.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Skill Development and Technical Education Department secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh and Singapore ITEES CEO Bruce Poh.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) Chairman Subroto Bagchi and Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, APC Gagan Kumar Dhal and other senior officials were present in the MoU signing ceremony held at the State Secretariat.
“The ITEES will be organizing a two-week training on Leadership Development for 100 leaders of government-run ITI institutions that are in the forefront of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Odisha,” an official statement said here today.
Chief Minister Mr.Patnaik said, “I am particularly pleased that one hundred ITI teachers will be trained at Singapore at the ITE in 2018. My Government is committed to development of human and social capital for enhancing the capabilities of our people and this partnership will go a long way in fulfilling this objective.”
ITEES CEO Mr.Poh said, “We are extremely impressed with the vision of Odisha for skill development. We are looking forward to a very long term collaboration between us.”
OSDA Chief Mr.Bagchi told Media, “We are delighted to forge collaboration with ITEES, a global leader in the area of technical training and skill development.”
He said with ITEES help, State Government can push up the standards of our ITIs to global level.
The ITE Education Services (ITEES), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Institute of Technical Education, Singapore, was set up in January 2003 with the objective of sharing ITE’s expertise.
The institute has undertaken training programs in 27 countries so far.
The MoU is considered a landmark initiative by the State Government to transform the skill development ecosystem in the State and a clear step towards realizing the vision of the Chief Minister for skill development in the State.

The program aims to develop human and social capital, contributing towards the community development and enhancing capabilities for Skill Development and Vocational Training in the context of the State of Odisha.
ITEES will also provide TVET consultancy support to OSDA on proposed Advanced Skill Training Institutes (ASTIs) formations for advance skilling of the youths.
