Pradhan Slams Patnaik

A day after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made frontal attack on National Political Parties alleging neglect of Odisha, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today criticized the Chief Minister saying that the BJD Government has failed to provide the basic amenities to people of the State even after remaining at the helm for nearly 19 years.

Mr.Pradhan, in his reply to Mr.Patnaik’s allegation said that the BJD Government has failed to provide proper health, education, irrigation, drinking water to a vast majority of the people of the State while it has utterly failed to solve unemployment and maintain law and order.

“Perhaps this is an attempt of the Chief Minister to hide his follies. He is also trying to shift the blame on the national parties,” Mr.Pradhan added.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister said it is not BJP but the Congress which has ditched the people of the State and the BJD has a tacit understanding with that party.

He also refuted the claim of the Chief Minister that the national parties tried to destroy the federal structure of the country.

The Union Minister said sanctioning Rs 5100 crore for several railway projects in State as compared to the meager allocations earlier, is no indicator of NDA government’s step-motherly attitude.

Mr.Pradhan said while only 42 per cent eligible people were included in the Food Security Act during the UPA regime, as many as 86 lakh families have been brought under the purview during the NDA rule.

He said Odisha had only 4700 Km National Highway since independence while in the past three years the BJP led government has granted as much as 4800km NH in State.

“The dream Coastal Highway has come into reality only during the BJP-led NDA government,” the Union Minister asserted.

He also cited  sanctioning of LPG to BPL families in State, more funds for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna and sanctioning of toilets in rural households in the State.

Notably, Mr.Patnaik had on 8 October said during his Jansampark Pada Jatra rally that national parties have constistently ignored the interest of the State and promoted their own during their regimes.

However, he did not name any party during the course of his speech.
