No Stamping@ BPIA

Passengers flying out to domestic destinations from State Capital Airport will no longer get their hand baggage stamped.

Stamping of passengers’ hand baggage tags has been done away with at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in the State Capital.

Stamping of hand baggage tags will not be done anymore at Terminal 2.

However, passengers travelling to international destinations from Terminal 1 will have to follow the baggage stamping procedure.
BPIA Director Suresh Chandra Hota informed Media Men here today in this regard.
This comes as a major relief for the passengers as the flyers had to queue up to get their baggage stamped after Security Check.
Henceforth, passengers would only go through Security Check and proceed towards the lounge from where they can move to respective gates to board their flights.

Notably, a Committee comprising officials of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Aviation Security Regulator , Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and the Airport Operators was constituted early this year by the Central Government to smoothen the roll—out of this new protocol at all the 59 airports guarded by the paramilitary force.
Trial runs were conducted prior to enforcing stamp-free hand baggage regime.
