People Eat Modi Rice

Whose rice the poor people of Odisha eat?

The question is raised after Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar claimed that it is “Modi Rice” that the people pf Odisha eat.
However Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik claimed credit for the cheap rice scheme in the state.
The Union Minister claimed that Mr.Modi is giving Rs 27 per kilogram of rice while Naveen contributes only Rs 2 and the beneficiaries give Rs 1. Therefore, it is Modi’s rice, Mr.Javadekar claimed.
The BJP leadership is totally annoyed as Naveen takes all credit over the cheap rice scheme even as the Centre take major burden.
However, the BJP leaders forget that cheap rice scheme was introduced in 2008 by the BJD Government much before the 2009 general elections.
Mr.Javadekar also lashed out at the BJD Government in Odisha dubbing it ‘incapable’.
The Union Minister claimed that RS 1/per Kg rice is a central scheme.
“Naveen Government is incapable,” Mr.Javadekar said on his arrival here on a two-day visit to the state this morning.
He also reiterated BJP President Amit Shah’s claim that the party would form the next government in Odisha winning more than 120 out of the total of 147 Assembly segments.
Agriculture Minister Dr. Damodar Rout hit back hard at Mr.Javadekar saying the Union Minister has “Zero Knowledge of Governance.”
“If our State Government is incapable, then how come the Union Government has given us various  prizes as Best Performing State in different sectors, including Agriculture, in the recent past?” asked  Rout.
Reacting to Mr.Javadekar’s allegation on the Rs 1/kg rice scheme, BJD Spokesperson Pratap KesariDeb said  the scheme was implemented much before Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister.
Mr.Deb said, “The statement of Union Minister Prakash Javadekar is unfortunate and at the same time laughable. The BJD started the Rs 1 per kg scheme in 2008 and the Centre brought the Food Security Act much later in 2013. The party introduced the scheme much before Mr. Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country.”
