Narayan Dilemma For BJP

Opposition BJP is in dilemma over selection of candidates for the ensuing by-elections in the Bijepur Assembly segment of Baragarh district.

The party is finding it difficult because Bargarh district president of BJP Narayan Sahu is in no mood to go by the senior leaders who have hired former BJD MLA Ashok Panigrahi  to make him a candidate in the by-polls.
Panigrahi, on October 2 formally joined the saffron party at a public meeting attended by two union ministers- Jula Oram and Dharmendra Pradhan, and party’s Odisha in-charge Arun Singh besides state party president Basant Panda.
Though the party has given a clear indication that it would make Mr.Panigrahi its candidate for the by-polls, Narayan Sahu and his supporters preferred to keep them away from attending the joining function.
Mr.Sahu, who played a vital role in win of BJP candidates in six of the seven zilla parishad seats in Bargarh district feel neglcted and not ready to make Panigrahi a candidate.

His supporters have demanded that Mr.Sahu should be made the BJP candidate for his strong organisation hold and dedication towards BJP.
Mr.Sahu has also got full support friom BJP’s national secretary Suresh Pujari. “Sahu is a dedicated party worker who has been organizing the saffron party in Bargarh district for over 20 years. Therefore, keeping his contribution to the party in consideration, he sould be made the candidate,” Mr.Pujari said.
Meanwhile, Mr.Sahu, has given ultimatum to party that he would be forced to resign from BJP if the party do not considers his contribution, sources said adding that what is the point for the oldtimers if the party hires people from other parties and make them candidates.
Notably, Mr.Sahu  and other Mandal Presidents do not accept Panigrahi as the BJP candidate even as senior leaders in Bhubaneswar wanted to make the former MLA its candidate.
Mr.Panigrahi had quit BJD after the ruling party named MLA Subal Sahu’s widow, Rita Sahu, as the candidate for upcoming Bijepur by-poll.
However in the latest development, an urgent meeting was convened at the residence of Mr.Singh Deo, where Mr.Sahu was present.
Later Mr.Sahu said he will remain in the party and will wait the decision of the Parliamentary Board over the Bijepur By-Poll candidate.
