Rahul Confuses Congress Men

It seems frustration writ large among the Congress leaders as the AICC dillydallying the change of leadership in the State, while the party is at its lowest ebb.

Even as All India Congress Committee (AICC) Vice President Rahul Gandhi has convened a meeting of the leaders from Odisha on 5 September at New Delhi, both senior and young leaders are not very happy over such Jamboree.
While the AICC Team has already presented their detailed report on the scenario in Odisha and has prescribed for sweeping changes, inviting more than 35 leaders for such a meeting seems AICC is trying to more delay the matter.
Camp followers of Prasad Harichandan are happy over such delay and they feel that their leader will continue to be at the helm.
However, speculations are yet again rife of change of guard in the State leadership soon.
Talking to media persons, today, former Congress MP Ananta Prasad Sethi said, “Odisha Congress is currently undergoing a period of suspense, hope and despair. The 5 September meeting is crucial and I hope it would be a decisive one for paving the path for perking up the party organization here.”
Senior Congress Lawmaker, Bhujabal Majhi said, “In a bid to strengthen the Odisha Congress organization and following the submission of report by the AICC Observers, perhaps the High Command has summoned all of us from here to discuss the  best choice for the next PCC president. I have also been called and I will attend.”
However, Odisha Congress Discipline Committee Chairperson Sandhya Rani Mohapatra said, “AICC Observers had been deputed here and they gathered opinions of leaders and workers. It is possible that this meeting is concerned with their report. Had they realized that the present PCC president Prasad Harichandan ought to be removed, it would have been affected forthwith.” Mrs.Mohapatra said Prasad Harichandan will continue in his present post.
Notably, as many as 16 Congress MLAs led by the Leader of Opposition and a faction of veteran Congress leaders are at loggerheads with the incumbent PCC President Prasad Harichandan since 2016 and are also hell bent on replacing him claiming that the sagging morale and weakening party organization is already at stake under Harichandan’s stewardship.
Earlier, the peeved Congress Lawmakers and other senior leaders had knocked the doors of the AICC umpteen number of times following which Rahul Gandhi had held a meeting of the Congress leaders hailing from all factions months ago and had ignited a ray of hope for an imminent change of guard then.
With resentment at nadir, Congress President Sonia Gandhi had deputed a three-member team of AICC observers for three days to gather the views of all sections of the Congress workers here and submit a Report.
Report has been received and Congress High Command is seized of the matter and now why they are convening a meeting is just not acceptable.
People are confused over AICC Vice President’s latest move and no one is able to predict the outcome, said a former Minister, who is just not going to Delhi, though he has been invited for the consultations.
