For the first time people will have a glimpse of newly formed Odisha Swift Action Force (OSAF).

Jawans of the Elite Police Force will participate in the Parade on 15 August on Mahatma Gandhi Marg.
DGP K B Singh was happy today as it is his idea to create this force to deal with communal riots, serious law and order situation and major religious festivals.
Briefing Media here today DGP Mr.Singh said for the first time Odisha Swift Action Force, Indo Tibetan Border Force (ITBP) and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) contingents have been included in the parade.
“We have been very selective in choosing the participating contingents. Last time there were 65 contingents but this year we chose 53 teams to improve quality,” said Mr.Singh.
The Twin City Police has announced deploying as many as 25 platoons at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg on 15 August .

Apart from this, 50 CCTV cameras are set to be installed, said senior Police official.
DGP said that the security measures have been tightened across the State ahead of the 71st Independence Day to ward off any untoward incident during the celebrations.
He said that the Government is serious about peaceful celebration of the day.
Mr.Singh said alerts have been sent across the State to police stations and the Maoist-affected areas are on high alert.
Meanwhile, a full dress rehearsal of parade for the State level function was held at the MG Marg here.
A total of 56 troops, from schools, colleges and police forces, will turn up for the Independence Day march.
Besides, the Police Team of State of Telangana will also participate in the March Past.
