Facebook Supports Women

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated ‘SheMeansBusiness’ program organized by Facebook here.

This is a Joint Initiative of the Department of MSME, the Directorate of Mission Shakti and Facebook.
Odisha Skill Development Authority Chiarman Subrato Bagchi, Minister MSME Prafulla Samal and others were present.
Chief Minister said the partnership will empower communities and become a pioneering model in the country.He said he was doubly delighted to be present at the workshop which consisted entirely of women entrepreneurs and Mission Shakti groups.

The Chief Minister said he had earlier stressed on the use of the three Ts- Technology , Teamwork and Transparency -to bring about transformation in the lives of our people.

“This is amply demonstrated today in the partnership of Government with Facebook - a partnership aimed to reduce the digital divide and empower nearly 25,000 entrepreneurs and SHGs over the next one year,” he said. 
Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan, Additional Chief Secretary  MSME LN Gupta, Mission Sakti Chief sujata R Karthikeyan and other graced the occasion.
Mr.Guptasaid, State has a large network of public and private entrepreneurs, accelerators and incubators which makes the state an ideal destination for aspiring entrepreneurs.

“We want to encourage women to actively participate in the state’s economy and welcome Facebook’s #SheMeansBusiness to Odisha,” he said.
He said it is for everyone to see amazing examples of how digital can be the equalizer on Facebook every day, how it provided women access to new opportunities, new markets, new ideas, all from their own home.
Public Policy Director, Facebook -India, South & Central Asia, Facebook Ankhi Das said through Facebook's SheMeansBusiness the social media platform hopes to inspire more women across the country, including in Odisha, to take the leap – and help close the gap on that untapped opportunity for millions more women and in turn ensure our economy remains strong and thrives.”
Notably, Facebook will partner with MSME Department and Project Mission Shakti will jointly train 25,000 entrepreneurs in the next one year.
‘SheMeansBusiness by Facebook has been launched in 16 countries around the world, including India and is designed to reach both aspiring and established women entrepreneurs through a series of workshops and online resources that will arm them with the knowledge, skills, connections and technology required to build and grow their business.
Today's launch in Bhubaneswar was attended by 800 women entrepreneurs across the state.
Through this initiative, Facebook has visited 18 cities across 6 states in India, providing skills training to more than 35,000 entrepreneurs across the country.
The State Level Sensitization Workshop under the banner “#SheMeansBusiness” in collaboration with Facebook is aimed to impart digital marketing skill to women SHGs.
