VIMSAR Agitation Suspended

The Post Graduate students of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) today suspended their agitation.

As the Minister Health and Family Welfare Pratap Jena intervened in the matter, they took the decision.
Mr.Jena has promised to initiate steps within 48 hours to resolve the logjam at premier health institute in western Odisha, said Secretary of Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA) Debi Prasad Mishra after a meeting with the Minister.
He said the General Body Meeting held today voted to suspend the stir for the time being.
He assured that efforts will be made to bridge the gap between the public and doctors at the health facility in Burla.
“We will talk to all concerned-public, lawyers and Nagarika Manch – to dispel their impression about our action,” Mr.Mishra said.
Mr.Mishra said meeting of PG doctors of VIMSAR and SCB Cuttack with Minister Mr.Jena had a positive output. JDA will let know of its future steps after their General Body meeting on Friday.
VIMSAR Director, Ashwini Pujahari too welcomed the step of the students saying, “The students are the backbone of the institute. Their decision is welcome.”

With this the doctors resumed their duties at the Hospital ending four day’s chaos in treatment of patients at VIMSAR.

PG doctors are sitting on dharna since four days demanding ouster of VIMSAR Director Aswini Pujahari alleging autocracy.

On Wednesday, the Health Minister had sternly warned the agitating medicos.

“We want normalcy to return at VIMSAR soon, many things have been discussed but further action will be taken after the protest is called off,” he had said.
