Suranjan No More

Odisha’s young and dynamic officer Suranjan Satapathy passed away at a private hospital here this evening.


Suranjan, an OAS Officer, who worked as the Joint Secretary to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, is survived by wife and an eight-year-old son.

Born on 5 March, 1967, in Khurda, Mr.Satpathy’s wife is a lecturer in BJB College in Bhubaneswar.

He breathed his last following yet another massive stroke.

He was admitted at the hospital after a mild brain stroke which was followed by another while under treatment.

The third stroke was fatal ending the life of the 50-year-old officer who worked in different capacities in Odisha Administrative Service in Ganjam district.

Mr.Satpathy was picked up the Chief Minister’s Office from among hundreds of OAS officer for his efficiency and capabilities in handling difficult situations.

Chief Secretary A P Padhi. Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan Principal Secretary to CM Rajesh Verma, Special Secretary General Administration Ashok Kumar Meena and many senior bureaucrats visited the hospital after the news spread on Satpathy’s demise.

Health Minister Pratap Jena, Higher Education Minister Badrinarayan Patra, other Ministers and MLAs also paid tribute to the departed soul.
