In a rare gesture to any political congregation, Odisha Government has decided to accorded red carpet welcome to the visiting Prime Minister, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers.
Though the PM, Union Ministers, CMs and DCMs of different states visit Odisha to attend the BJP’s national executive meeting in the state capital, the Naveen Patnaik government rose to the occasion to treat the visiting dignitaries as the State Guests.
They will get all the facilities available for the guests visiting the state on official tour.
Interestingly, the PM’s visit program clearly says that the tour in purely "non-official".
However, the state’s BJD Government do not want to take chance and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik adopted “Atithi Deva Bhavo” policy.
The visit of the PM, Union Ministers, CMs of about 13 BJP ruled states and three DCMs, come here on political purpose and not on official programme.
Over 200 vehicles has been requisitioned to facilitate transportation of the Union Ministers, CMs and DCMs besides their security arrangement.
As many as 100 platoons (about 3000 personnel) of force, about 500 officers would be deployed for the BJP’s national executive meet.
Meanwhile, huge cutouts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah dotted nook and corner of the capital city ahead of their visit to the State.
The capital city wore a saffron look with party flags fluttering at all vantage points even as State government made elaborate security arrangements for the safety of the prime minister and senior BJP leaders.
The entire route from airport to Raj Bhawan and to Janata Maidan where the meeting will be held has been barricaded as BJP claims mustering nearly a lakh people to greet the BJP leaders on their arrival in the city.
Commissionerate Police today held rehearsal of escorting the Prime Minister from the airport to the Raj Bhawan and to Janata Maidan using nearly 25 bullet proof vehicles.
Nearly 200 vehicles will ferry the BJP leaders – Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of BJP ruled states and senior party leaders – in the city in the next two days.
Nearly 2000 security personnel, including Special Protection Group and senior State Police officials, will be deployed for security duty at Airport, Raj Bhawan and Janata Maidan.
The meeting is hyped by BJP as one to make Odisha the laboratory for future party strategy across the country.
Union Ministers have toured various places in the State for ‘Jan Audit’ of Centrally Sponsored Schemes implemented in the State.
This visit of Prime Minister Mr.Modi will be fourth since assuming power at Centre.
