Criticized for visiting the national capital when Bhadrak town was on boil over the communal flare up, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had plans to announce special package for the riot hit people, sources said.
Naveen, who reached here after a five-day visit to Delhi, said that he was planning to visit Bhadrak tomorrow.
As the Chief Minister is likely to meet the affected people, the District Administration has already conducted a preliminary assessment of the damages done during the violence.
Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Central Division, A B Ota has already said that the Government is contemplating to giving compensation to the affected people as most of them are poor.
Though fortunately no one has died in the violence, many houses and shops were damaged. Most of the victims belonged to the minority community.
Apart from helping the poor people, Naveen will kill two birds with one stone, opine political observers.
A Special Package for the riot hit people will silence the critics, particularly the BJP which is holding its two-day National Executive Meeting in the State Capital on April 15 and 16.
The Governing BJD, which is facing heat from the BJP particularly after the three-tire panchayat elections, also fear that the saffron leaders who are coming down to the State for the National Executive meeting may visit Bhadrak to take mileage from the incident.
BJD Strategist suspected that either Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Home Minister Rajnath Singh may visit Bhadrak.
Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has meanwhile take up Bhadrak matter with the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
“Nobody knows, the BJP may decide to send Union Minister Mr.Singh to Bhadrak.
Therefore, it is safe for the Chief Minister to visit the violence hit areas and meet the affected people in order to deny political mileage to the BJP,” said a senior Minister.
