At least 5100 houses are being constructed in Capital City under Urban Housing Mission for economically backward classes.
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Krishan Kumar told Media that the beneficiaries are selected on the recommendation of the societies formed at the slum levels.
Dr.Kumar said as many as 5100 houses are being constructed in three clusters for the urban poor. Each beneficiary will bear Rs 1.5 lakh cost while the rest shall be borne by the State Government.
Chief Secretary A P Padhi also directed the officials at a review meeting here to prepare the beneficiaries list based on authenticated documents and stick to the deadlines of constructions of the projects.
The beneficiaries are being seeded to banks also, he added. The meeting reviewed three projects at Chandrasekharpur, Sahid Nagar and in the Nilamadhab slums in Chandrasekharpur areas.
While construction of 2600 houses are being taken up in the Chandrasekharpur Mouza, 1300 houses are being planned in Sahid Nagar and 1200 in Nilamadhab slum under Private-public-Participation, Dr.Kumar said.
The bidding process has been finalized and the credentials of the bidders verified, he added.
