Forces Move To Red Zones

Looking at the spurt of activities the Left Wing Extremists (LWE)s, the State Government is working out a Detailed Deployment Plan for the Forces for deployment  in the Red Zones and creation of security infrastructure is being taken up on fast track mode.

As the Maoists are trying to improve their presence in moderately and marginally affected areas by creating violence, State Government is busy in an exercise to deploy more number of forces in the affected areas, said official sources.

Suspected Maoists triggered blasts at Doikallu railway station in Rayagada district on 31 March and abducted a couple of railway officials before they were allowed to go.
The assailants snatched a few walkie talkies used by the railway staff. However, no railway staff or local people were injured. In fact these Ultras were trying to generate fear psychosis and make their presence felt in moderately affected areas of Rayagada.
For last few years Bansadhara-Ghumusar- Nagavali Divison of CPI(Maoist) were dormant and now they have raised their tentacles.
Looking at the situation, the State Government is not taking any chances and making all out efforts to ensure safety for the civilians, said sources in Department of Home.
Accordingly deployment and redeployment of forces both Central Police Armed Forces (CAPF)s and State Police Forces are being worked out and soon these forces will be deployed.
While Odisha has got 17 Battalions of Central Forces and One CoBRA Battalion in various Red Zones, fresh look is being taken to deployment of forces. Where ever it is necessary, redeployment will be done, pointed out a senior official in DoH.
In order to expedite the creation of security infrastructure, the State Government has decided to form District Level Land Alienation Committee headed by District Collector with SP and CAPF authorities as well as field Officials of the Odisha State Police Housing Welfare Corporation (OSPHWC) .
This Committee will expeditiously settle the land related issues, which take lot of time, so that time can be saved to create security infrastructure.
In fact OSPHWC is fast tracking creation of security infrastructure in the State and formation of such committee will expedite the matter, officials say.
While BSF is setting up its Tactical Headquarters in the State, CRPF is also running its State Headquarters in the State is also setting up new Battalion Headquarters in Kalahandi. Now Kalahandi has turned out to be a soft target of the Maoists.
So more forces deployment in the Maoist affected areas are being planned out and it will be done in an expeditious manner, said sources.
